About the Author
Julia Donaldson, the 2011-2013 Children's Laureate, is the outrageously talented, prize-winning author of the world's most-loved picture books, including The Gruffalo and What the Ladybird Heard. James Robertson is a co-founder of Itchy Coo. He writes books for both adults and children, in English and in Scots. His novel The Testament of Gideon Mack was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2006 and featured on the Richard and Judy Book Club in 2007. He has translated Roald Dahl's The Fantastic Mr Fox and A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh into Scots. Axel Scheffler is a German-born illustrator and animator based in London. I Prefer It in Scots!

I have read and love The Gruffalo stories in standard English and Scots. The Scots is my favorite because it's so much fun to read with an accent. I'm American and my husband is Scottish. Neither of us have any trouble reading The Gruffalo in Scots. Some of the words in this book would be difficult for a young American or English reader to understand without some help. I recommend searching for a video of this book being read aloud so you can decide for yourself if it's "too difficult" or not.
"A gruffalo? Whit's a gruffalo then?"
"A gruffalo! Whit, dae ye no ken?"

I love this! If you like this story of the smart mouse and have it memorized, as almost everyone does, you will adore it done in Scots. The cultural linguistic variations are fantastic and entertaining!

She loved it, this is a classic little Scot book ...

I ordered this for a Scottish friend to read to her daughter and to have a bit of Scotland with her in the US. She loved it, this is a classic little Scot book is a must have, especially for people away from home. The book itself was in great condition upon arriving to me as well.
